comming from notch's blog:
I went through this list and picked out all the games I played in 2010. Here they are, with tiny reviews each:
Bayonetta
Devil May Cry all over again, making less sense than ever. Epic action, great controls. 3/5
BioShock 2
The new developers totally fail to understand what was good about the first one. 2/5
Aliens vs. Predator
The original developers totally fail to understand what was good about the first one. 1/5
Heavy Rain
Quick time events and plot holes. I liked Indigo Prophesy/Fahrenheit, and I liked this too. 4/5
Assassin’s Creed II
I never played the first one, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I lost interest too early to be able to rate this. n/a
Mega Man 10
Easier than 9, but still way too difficult for me. Overall, I liked 9 more, with catchier music, tighter design, and a higher novelty value. 3/5
God of War III
More of the same, in super sexy HD and satisfying combat. It’s a shame all weapons play almost exactly the same. 4/5
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening
I had to force myself to stop playing this as I would never have gotten anything done if I kept playing it. When I left off, I was just starting to realize that romancing Morrigan was a mistake. 5/5
The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom
Super horrible DRM problems aside, this is a fresh air of old school game design, almost feeling board-game like at times. 4/5
Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West
There is almost nothing here to enjoy. 1/5
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City
Enjoyable, funny, and engrossing. It’s a shame the PS3 had to wait this long for the Episodes. 4/5
Monster Hunter Tri
What the crud is going on? Who is that? Why am I collecting these? There are HOW many weapon types? This would probably be fun and rewarding if I didn’t feel so alienated by it. ???/5
Eschalon: Book II
I didn’t play this much, again because of time issues. Rpgs tend to do that to me these days. But I still want to include it in the this because this is actually a good old school rpg that deserves to be mentioned. n/a
Alan Wake
One single interesting game mechanic gets dragged out into a long adventure/horror/fps. Interesting story, annoyingly linear. 3/5
Red Dead Redemption
Too much dust, but otherwise a perfect cowboy experience. Hilarious bugs! 5/5
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Great level design, crazy much content. Annoying controls sometimes. 4/5
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
The same game as Portable Ops, but way more fun. 4/5
APB All Points Bulletin
No. 0/5
Singularity
Fun shooter. The kind you’re supposed not to think in. But they trick you into thinking it’s going to be clever, but it’s not. But it’s fun.. usually! 3/5
Limbo
Pure atmosphere and some clever puzzle design. Memorable boss fights. 4/5
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
I’m not sure why I bought this, I never liked the first one. It’s probably a well designed game, but I get bored immediately. n/a
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
I played through the first one in CoOp, and they did some really clever things in there. This time around, there is nothing clever anywhere. Was this really made by the same studio that did the excellent Hitman series? 1/5
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game
It’s a beat-em up with great pixel art! =D/5
Civilization V
Single unit combat was a great decision, turning the game more into Advance Wars than Risk, but almost everything else is less fun than Civ4. 3/5
Dead Rising 2
Combining weapons is fun, then turns into a chore. Why no infinite mode? 3/5
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
Too little, too late. Sonic in an undead zombie by now. 2/5
Fallout: New Vegas
I was skeptical at first, but this is a much better game than Fallout 3. Heaps of crashes and console freeze bugs. 4/5
Super Meat Boy
Difficult, but not in a bad way. Once you master a jump, you can repeat it much easier. Most levels turn into grind-until-you-win, which is later rewarded with a clever replay of all deaths. 5/5
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX
Pure game design porn. This is what sitting down and thinking about mechanics for hours on end results in. A bit shallow, but it’s PACMAN! 3/5
Totally true, APB was a big fail xD
dont u think?
